Pittsburgh Steelers LB, LaMarr Woodley had two sacks and four tackles in last week's 38-10 victory over the Cincinatti Bengals.

Those stats earned him the honor of GMC Sierra NFL Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. Woodley was garnished with the honor in Week 1 of the regular season, in a game against the Houston Texans.

Of the 7 weeks so far this season, Woodley has been Player of the Week twice and teammate, Troy Polamalu received the award once.

After the season, five players will be nominated for GMC Defensive Player of the Year honors. With Woodley capturing the title twice already this season, he is defintely a front runner for the award.

This award, along with the Offensive Player of the Week award, can be voted upon by fans every week. Let's keep supporting out Steelers.

Continue reading "Woodley named NFL Defensive Player of the Week for Week 7"

It's halfway through the season and I am finally starting my predictions. I am open to some challenges if anyone is interested.

Oakland @ Baltimore - Baltimore (Joe Flacco throws for 2 TD's and rushes for 1 more.)

Tampa @ Dallas - Tampa (Brad Johnson tosses 2 maybe 3 picks against Tampa's cover 2.)

Buffalo @ Miami - Buffalo (This game will be closer than people think. Buffalo by 5.)

San Digeo @ New Orleans - San Diego (NFL leading passer Drew Brees goes cold today against SD's defense.)

Atlanta @ Philadelphia - Philadelphia (Donovan McNabb looks impressive in a game that wont even be close.)

Cleveland @ Jacksonville - Jacksonville (Derek Anderson looks to be back on track, but not quite enough.)

Seattle @ San Francisco - San Francisco (Without Matt Hasselbeck, or even with him, Seattle has a long season ahead of them. Goodbye Mike Holmgren.)

Oh cubbies-cubbies-cubbies.

Well they wouldnt be the Cubs if the season didnt end like it did. The 2008 Cubs had more wins this season than they have in the past 66 years. The last time the Cubs had this many wins was 1942 - coincidentally the last time they appeared in the Fall Classic. And we all know they didnt even win it then.

Playing in the best division in the NL, the Cubs led the league in wins, strikeouts and ERA. Yet, everyone wants new pitching. Sure big Z will always be himself, but the addition of Rich Harden was an incredible move this season. I understand CC Sabathia to be a great guy, I mean the man took out an ad in the Cleveland paper - thanking fans for thier support. But would he really fit in Chitown? With Big Z already the ace of the staff and Dempster pushing hard for the same spot, where would CC fit?

Although its early in the season, many experts are predicting this game could be a Super Bowl preview. The New York Giants (5-1, 1-0)) will invade Heinz field on Sunday looking to hand the Pittsburgh Steelers (5-1, 3-0), not only its second loss of the season, but its second loss to an NFC East team.

The Steelers fell to the Philadelphia Eagles earlier in the season, amidst a barrage of sacks by the Eagles defense. New York looks to throw many of the same formations at Big Ben this weekend. The Giants have an incredible pass rush with the front four amassing 14.5 sacks already this season. Ben Roethlisberger, who was knocked around against Philly, has acknowledged the trouble with the offensive line has also accredited the "guys in the trenches" with their continued improvement. Big Ben was not sacked at all last week against Cleveland.

Continue reading "Super Bowl Preview NYG PIT Sunday 415 pm ET"
