Steelers Set to Meet Eagles on Sunday

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles will be meeting Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field in the City of Brotherly Love.  This game should be very entertaining and high scoring, with two of the game’s best quarterbacks going head to head.  The home field has made the Eagles a 3 point favorite on Sunday, but many people see this game as a tossup with it going right down to the wire.

In order for the Steelers to be successful this week, they must get pressure on quarterback, Donovan McNabb.  When McNabb has enough time in the pocket, he has the tremendous ability to pick the defensive secondary apart.  Another player the Steelers must be aware on Sunday is Eagles halfback, Brian Westbrook.  Westbrook may be one of the most dangerous players in the NFL when he gets in the open field.  The defense of the Steelers has to step up this week if they want to get a win in Philadelphia.

Ben Roethlisberger says his shoulder feels fine and that he will be ready to play on Sunday, but everyone believes that he is not 100%.  This puts added pressure on the Steelers’ offensive line, it is crucial that they give Roethlisberger enough time to deliver the football safely.  The defense of the Philadelphia Eagles loves to blitz, so expect the Steelers to try and establish a ground game early to protect Roethlisberger from the defensive pressure.

Prediction:  After an all day scoring affair, the Steelers’ defense manages to do enough in the end.  Also, expect Willie Parker to rush for his third straight 100-yard game.  Steelers win a nail-biter 28-27.

  1. I'm nervous about Roethlisberger.  He's been getting turfed more than I would like, and I'm concerned that the new-and-improved offensive line isn't doing enough.  If his shoulder really isn't 100% and he takes a bad hit, we're gonna wind up having to rely on Byron Leftwich.  I don't like that prospect at all.

I'm sure Willie will shine as always, but I would like to see more out of Rashard Mendenhall.  So far I'm not very impressed.

  2. Michael, Your absolutely correct.  the key for the Sreelers is to get pressure on McNabb.  he tends to do stupid things when he is under pressure.  I agree the Steelers will carve up the Birds.
