Brief description

I'm just your average Steeler fan who also happens to be a huge carniverous insect that writes in a 1950's era office. Nothing unusual about that.

Who am I?

I was born and raised a Steeler Fan. As a baby I was nourished by the crushed up (and strained) hopes and dreams of Cleveland Browns fans and even after all of these years, they still taste delicious.

I was placed in front of a TV when I was four to watch some people wearing White, Black, and Gold were beating up a bunch of people wearing Purple and I was allowed to yell as loud as I wanted to when everyone else yelled... which was alot.

It was so fun, we did it again the next year and we got to wave yellow towels.

I had my face painted black and gold as I attended a game in Cleveland (in 1992), I even sat in the upper part of Cleveland's "Dawg Pound" (they can't even spell 'dog' right) and nothing happened to me.

Interests

Fishing, Football, Golf, Hockey, Slow Bugs

Main Skills

fishing, Ninja skills, Sitting perfectly still for insane periods of time before lashing out at an approaching fly or neglected nacho plate, Writing (I hope)

I'm torn... posted on 08/26/2008

Ok.. everybody knows that the Steelers may be at the end or an era if the majority of the team were to be sold to someone other than a Rooney.  Now there is word that the other owners may not let that happen and will try to pressure the Rooneys who are selling to sell to their brother Art II with his son Dan Rooney and not Billionaire Stanley Druckenmiller.

Here is where I am torn.

The NFL looks like it will be changing in the near future from the revenue sharing, every team has an equal shot at keeping top talent, generally level playing field of today to one that is more like Major League Baseball.

I don't have to tell you how much that model of business does NOT work for the fans of smaller market teams.

I'm torn that if the Rooney's retain control, they will not be able to compete with the likes of Jerry Jones  and will end up like the Pirates.

The State of the SteelerNation as of August 2008 posted on 08/26/2008

I have noticed a disturbing trend on the message boards lately and I do not like it.  Steeler fans acting like Bengal and Browns fans.  It is very sad and to be honest, it is embarrassing.

You know who I am talking about... whiny, clueless, overreacting fans who will watch one series in one pre-season game and declare the season lost.  These people are so emotionally fragile that they have to set up a win-win situation at the first sign of trouble.  If the Steelers win, they will be 'happily wrong' but if they lose, they get to say 'I told you so!' which then softens the psychological blow of their favorite team having a bad season.

Now every team has them only some teams have more than others.

Bengals and Browns fans haven't tasted victory for so long they have become like a abused dog who will begin flinching and predicting doom at the first sign of trouble.  But for them, this behavior is expected and normal, they need it to survive and is infinitely better than the other end of the spectrum of their fans who think they have a chance to win it all every year despite decades of incompetence.  But those are Bengals and Browns fans.  They have a higher than normal percentage of the delusionally optomistic fan... they have to or they wouldn't sell any tickets at all.
