Two cities that produce NBA Eastern Conference contenders also have the two teams that are favored to win the Super Bowl as the NFL playoffs are set to begin this weekend.

I really like the direction this team is going but I'm not so sure they can really be a contender in the East this year.  The East has gotten a lot stronger over the last few years and while I think they can make the playoffs I don't really see any chance that they can really beat The Magic, the Heat, the Celtics, of the Bulls.  And I'm skeptical they can even beat teams like the 76ers or the Hawks.

Hey gang!

I am excited as the new NBA season approaches. The preseason started last night and that means that we are less than four weeks away from the start of the season. I've got my Gamecenter online so that I can watch games with my computer. I'll spend time on this blog talking about what games I've watched and other exciting news and notes from the NBA. 

I have several teams that I love, but my top two teams are the Magic and the Pacers. I used to live in the Orlando area for several years and now live closest to the Pacers. If I get to any of the Pacer games live, then I'll also post pictures from those.

Let's get ready for a fun year. Over the next couple weeks, I'll give you my insights as to who might win the trophy in June.

Rumors have been going around that Jordan Staal might get traded soon. I think trading Staal would be a mistake for the Penguins. Staal is a young and talented hockey player. He is the best penalty killer on the team. He is on one of the best thrid liners in the league. In my opinion,  he is the best third line center in the NHL. With his size and skills, he is the most underrated player in hockey because he is over shadowed by Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.

         Ah, summer's end. The kids are getting ready for school, the Pirates are firmly ensconced in last place, and hurricane season is in full effect. Time for some pre-season football!
    But first, let's talk about the latest breaking news out of Philadelphia. If you missed it, Michael Vick is a member of the Philadelphia Eagles. Millions of football fans across the nation collectively are holding their breath, wondering exactly when and how Donovan McNabb is going to make an ass of himself over this. Can't wait.
    In other news, Donte Stallworth will miss the entire 2009 season without pay, the ruling coming down from Commissioner Goodell after the Browns' star wide receiver was found responsible for vehicular manslaughter. I have a hard time feeling sorry for Stallworth, but I beleive he has acted as professionally and responsibly as possible since the accident. Unlike other NFL troublemakers, Stallworth has followed policy to the letter, taking full responsibility for his actions. I firmly beleive that the remorse he shows is genuine, and whether he plays again or not, he will always regret the loss of another life at his hands. I hope other sports stars learn a lesson from him . . . not only about driving under the influence, but also about accepting responsiblity for your actions. Could have been worse.

                  COME ON! Haven't we seen this kind of thing before? Bettis went threw it, now Ben. This whole thing is a joke and a waist of time. We need our guy focused on the season. Hello, everyone, and welcome to my new Steelers Blog.  My name is Nicole, and I live in a little town called Butler, just an hour out of Pittsburg. I have lived here all of my life, and have been a part of Steelers nation.  I was not born to this, my family did not watch football together.  I am hoping to change this with my daughter.  I'm so proud of her.  Five years old, and already prone to cheering for the Steelers at the slightest provication.  Funny story recently.  The night of the final game of the Stanly Cup, actually.  My daughter and I were outside, and one of our neighbors was having a party, watching the game with their windows open.  Quite suddenly, they started a chant for the penguins, "Here we go, Penguins, here we go!"
