SHAQ AND KOBE...AND THE RIFT GOES ON

His act is getting real old.

A week after the Lakers were blasted by the Boston Celtics in Game 6 to capture the NBA championship, a ghost from Lakers past reared his ugly fat head and sprouted some venemous verses towards his former sidekick, Kobe Bryant.

Shaquille O'Neal, the 35-year-old former purple and gold Daddy, went on stage at a New York nightclub and went B.I.G. on us. The Diesel grabbed the mic and took shots at Bryant. The Big Cactus rapped about how Kobe couldn't win without him. He said that, "I'm a horse. Kobe ratted me out. That's why I'm getting a divorce." And he repeatedly asked the question, "Kobe, tell me how my ass taste?"

What?

Did Shaq just blame Kobe for his marriage falling apart? Did he just crap on Kobe, again? C'mon, Shaq. I thought you were bigger than this. You won. You got your post-Lakers championship ring. You have scoreboard over Kobe and the Lakers...for now. You didn't have to rub it in. Why revisit your divorce from the Lakers? Why kick Kobe when he's down?

Shaq, I know you felt wronged after getting shipped to Miami in 2004. Probably felt betrayed. Got a raw deal. Whatever it was, the bottom was that the Lakers made a huge mistake and the team paid a heavy price for that big mistake. It took four years before the franchise got back on its feet.

Shaq, you laughed all the way to Miami. And, after the Celtics rolled over the Lakers in the NBA Finals, you're still getting the last laugh in Phoenix.

O'Neal, through his ESPN crutch Stephen A. Smith, tried to diffuse the issue.

"I was freestyling," O'Neal said. "That's all. It was all done in fun. Nothing serious whatsoever. That is what MC's do. They freestyle when called upon. I'm totally cool with Kobe. No issue at all. And by the way, don't forget, six albums, two platinum, two gold. Anybody who knows me knows I'm a funny freestyler. Check the NBA DVD when I was rapping about Vlade Divac during my first championship run. Please tell everybody don't make something out of nothing."

Yeah. Real funny Shaq. I'm sure Kobe is laughing his "ass" off.

As much as we all want to move on and forget about the whole Shaq vs. Kobe story, the Big MC just would not let this go. He apparently has not moved on. He still harbors hard feelings for getting traded from L.A. to Miami. He may say that he's being funny but bringing up issues like getting "ratted out" and "couldn't do without me" leads me to believe that Shaq is attemptling to accurately paint his side of the story.

Shaquille, all 7-1 and 330-plus pounds of his funniness, is the not the bigger man in this case. He just needs to grow up and stop being such a bitter old man.
