Well it's July, and another training camp is in the works for the Steelers. Coming off a Super Bowl and not a real busy off season, there aren't allot of positions up for grabs. The ones that are though should be intense competition in training camp. Let's take a look at what we got, shall we.
Three starters left for free agency, or where cut. They are Kendall Simmons(cut), Larry Foote(cut), and Bryant McFadden(free agency, Cards). The first two won't be to hard to replace, but Bryant was a solid corner. So let's start with the Corner-back spot. We got Taylor, Gay, Townsend, Bryant, Lewis, and Burnett. Taylor is the only one with a starting job right now. The two rookies(Lewis and Burnett), you can count them out of the top three pretty much. Lewis will contend for time, and Burnett will contend for a job, both will try to make special teams. So where left with three players(Gay, Townsend, and Bryant), battling for the 2, 3 and 4 spot. I'm gonna say Gay is ready to step it up and play opposite Taylor. I'll say Townsend, having the time in system, stay at three. Out of the last three(Bryant, Lewis, and Burnett), one will be cut, two will stay. If the rooks can step it up, Bryants' the odd man out. K, linebacker is tookin care of with L.T. in there. Although there will be some competition at the bottom positions of the linebacker corps. Fox, Bailey, Davis, those guys will battle for spots. Now for the line, this is gonna be good for these guys. We got our 3rd round pick Urbik, and 7th round pick in the mix. Kendalls gone, so that opens up a little bit. Max Starts, and Colon are probably in there, Hartwig, too. The guard positions are up for grabs. Kemoeatu, Stapleton, who played good last year, and Urbik, three guys, two spots. Competition brings out the best in us. Running-back will be interesting as well. Parker, Mendenhall, Moore, Davis, Summers, I can't wait to see how this unfolds with the RBs.

I know, I'm crazy right? Well that's what the question mark is for. Could Big Ben be the Greatest Steeler of All Time at the age of 27? I'm just puttin it out there for us to think about. If not Ben, then who? Bradshaw, Bettis, Ward, Swann, Lambert, Harris, LLoyld, Woodson. Come on, who else? BIG BEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The guys been breaking records since his first season. He went undefeated as a rookie. UNDEFEATED. Broke alot of Marino's records that year. He won the Super Bowl in his second season. He took on a Buick with his face, man. TUFF. 32 td passes in a single season. The guy just wins football games. Just ask the Browns, Bungals, and Ravens. The highest single season passer rating 104.1. That was the same year as the td's 07'. Last year, come back after come back. Another Super Bowl last year. Like I said up top, who else? No one I named up top gets it over Ben. Terry, na, he didn't have to worry about free agency taking his stars away. Bettis and Woodson are the only ones who may give Ben a run, but Bettis didn't win a Super Bowl till Ben got here. Now Rod, that's a tuff one. Rod was great. I'm gonna still give it to Ben because of the Super Bowls and his age. He's only 27. We got like 10 years left with this guy. At the rate he's been going(2 in 5 years), he's got 4 more Bowls to give us. Yeah right, wouldn't that be nice. He's got a couple more anyway. Come on Steeler fan's, argue this one. I'd like to see what we all think.

The 09' season is close. What do you think the Steelers will do with the schedule they have? Last season we had the hardest schedule in the league, went 12-4 and won the Bowl. This seasons' schedule is a little weaker. Let's go over the game's and make a good prediction ha guys.
Forget the preseason, let's just go straight to the real games. OK, we open up Thursday night, Sept. 10 against the Titans. We owe them a butt kicking. Any Steelers fan knows why, right? I don't even wanna say, but I will. THE STOPPING OF THE TOWEL. Man, that was bad. I say a win for sure. 1-0. We go to Soldier Field two Sundays later to face a better Bears team. I say we win, but It could be hard. Let's go with a win here. 2-0. Next Sunday the 27, we travel to the Bungals. Win. 3-0. One week later, its the Chargers. Now I think we're gonna win, but I don't think we will be 4-0, I'm gonna go with 3-1 at this point in the year. Could lose to the Bears, the Bungals have a way of beating us once a year at home, and the Chargers could be mad at us for kicking there butts all year last year. O.k. 3-1. Oct. 11, Detroit. 4-1. Next Sunday against the Brown eye's, 5-1. We just got there number, don't we? One week later, the Vikings come to town. I'm gonna give us a win here. At home, #1 against the run. 6-1. Bye week after that, sitting pretty at 6-1. We go into Denver on a Monday night Nov. 9. We can't beat Denver in the regular season. 6-2. Bengals, on the 15, 7-2. At the Chiefs, 8-2. There rebuilding. There is a chance we beat Denver on Monday night, but I'm staying with 8-2 at this point in the season. At the Ravens on a Sunday night the 29. I hope we don't, but I say we're 8-3 at this point. Stuff happens. Raiders come to town next Sunday. 9-3. At the Brown eye's on the 10. 10-3. Now for the rest of the season it's the Packers at home, the Ravens at home, and then at sunny Miami. All these games are on the flexible schedule. I'm gonna say we go 2-1 in these three games. 12-4.

Mr. Dan Rooney is the best owner in all of sports. I mean the guys an Ambassador. You know he's only that because of how great an owner he is! Now don't get me wrong here, he's more than capable, but the fact of the matter is if he didn't have the success he's had with Steelers, would he be. Well that said, there's nobody more deserving right? The guys Irish, and like he said, he's the only one that will actually walk the streets of Ireland and talk to people. Those other suit and tie, can't get my hands dirty politician's won't do that. The guy still walks to the games. Every Sunday he walks to the Steeler games from the North Side. That's pretty cool.
MR. DAN ROONEY, YOU ARE THE GREATEST SPORTS OWNER OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can the '09 Pittsburgh Steelers win the Super Bowl in Miami and repeat as champs? I say hell yes. Not the easiest thing to do in sports though. Last team to do it was the cheatn Pats in 03-04. Let's go over this team and schedule and make a decision from there.
Ok, we'll start at the top with the Head Coach Mike Tomlin. Who dosen't want one of these. Young, tuff, and still hungry. Almost a Chuck Noll, Bill Cowher mix. You get the feel of a players coach, but a guy who will put these boys in there place. As long as Coach Tomlins' around, we have a chance every year. Big Ben, best YOUNG QB in the league. He will not get the numbers Payton and Tom do, but he doesn't need to. The only guy with better pocket presents was Dan Marino. Love this guy, as long as he's there we have a chance. I am confident our running back duo of Parker and Mendenhall will finally have it's chance to shine. You throw Moore in there and we are a triple threat. At wide receiver we have your possession(Ward), your deep threat (Holmes), and a couple guys ready to make some noise at the 3,4, and 5 spots (McDonald, Sweed, Wallace). Sweed owe's us a good season. TE Miller is as solid at the position as anyone, both catching and blocking. Say what you want about the O Line, but we did win the Super Bowl last year. We also added a few guys there that should help (3rd round pick OG Kraig Urbik, and 7th round pick C A.Q. Shipley). Urbik has a chance to start as a rookie, Starks has a long term deal he wanted, and all positions are up for grabs. Competition brings out the best in us all.

Which catch do you think is the greatest? All the old boys still go with the Immaculate. No surprise there, but I dont think they give Santonios' a chance. I think Santonios' Catch is not only greatest in Steeler history, but all time NFL history!
I receive the Sporting News and in it they surveyed 20 former Steelers. They ask all sorts of questions. The first of which was as follows..... BETTER CATCH: FRANCOS' OR SANTONIOS'.
FRANCOS 15
